Since the Plague Years changed how we do things, I’ve been doing online rituals a couple of times a month. I do a Full Moon guided meditation for Mother Grove Goddess Temple and a Dark Moon working group from my Facebook page. Both are Facebook Live videos and I leave them up so that people who couldn’t make the live event have a chance to participate, even if it is after the actual Moon phase.
It’s been an interesting process and I plan to continue them both, even after we can meet again in person. That may be true for some festivals and conferences, too. I think that’s a good thing. There are so many people who can’t attend camping festivals or hotel-based conferences for any number of reasons–they don’t like camping or it is too physically difficult, hotel costs and restaurant meals can be costly. If the organizers can organize the technical stuff, it’ll give more people a way to connect with community. That’s a good thing, even though “the community” can be difficult to its own.
Tonight it was Full Moon from the Mother Grove page. We had a varying number of participants–but way more than we would have had at our downtown chapel, which seats 20. I’m wondering if we can organize the tech to do these ceremonies–with their guided meditations and traveling as a group–for a live group and a virtual group at the same time. That would be a silver lining in these Plague Years.
We’ve also done some online rituals for the Wheel of the Year so the next one of those we’ll do is juicy. Beltane. I’ll keep you posted.
